My name is Mrs. Valerio- otherwise known as Miss Shoaff! :) This is my fourth year teaching at James W. Smith. I graduated from York College of Pennsylvania. How did I end up in North Carolina? Well, for my student teaching, we had the option of working in PA schools near the college or to travel to an underprivileged school district in NC. I wanted a different experience, so I was 1 of 3 people who packed their bags and moved to the mountains of Burke County, NC. I fell in love with the South, and that is how I ended up at JWS!
I live in Cove City with my husband, Mr. Valerio! You can imagine that we talk about teaching constantly- and you'd be right! ;)
I am a big believer in a family atmosphere in the classroom. In fact, the number one rule in my class is that we are a family. I strive to bring out the best in every student in my class, and they bring out the best in me as well. :)
Please feel free to email me at [email protected]. I promise I will respond to you that day!
You can also reach me by calling the school's number at 252-514-6466, but please refrain from calling during school hours unless of course it is an emergency!
